Job Description
In the role of data engineer, you will work on refining and making data available that supports the entire authority's operations. We deliver data products that enable everything from minute-to-minute operational situational reports to comprehensive follow-ups on crime-fighting efforts, which are then used daily in investigations, intelligence, and operational activities.
The information landscape is not static, and the demand for data changes over time. The role involves ongoing contacts with various parts of the authority and also external authorities and actors as needed.
Typical tasks may include:
- Building automated data flows that are fully or partially streaming
- Transforming, connecting, and linking data as part of a data flow
- Modeling large datasets
- Monitoring current technologies
- Evaluating and implementing new technologies or components in the data platform
You will be part of a team that works closely together in good collaborations to understand needs and deliver the best solution for those needs. The work environment is characterized by variation and self-organization according to agile principles. You will have great opportunities to influence your workday as well as the choice of working methods and technology. Competence development is highly valued, and everyone in the group regularly has the opportunity for both practical experience and competence-enhancing activities based on needs and interests.
Qualifications
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- Relevant post-secondary education in IT, or equivalent acquired competence that the Police Authority assesses as equivalent
- Several years of experience in data transformation such as complex transformations, stateful processing, and advanced joins
- Experience in building data flows of fully or partially streaming data, including transformations of streaming data, in an on-premise (i.e., not cloud-based) environment
- Experience with modern frameworks such as Apache Flink, Spark Streaming, Kafka Streams
- Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish
- Swedish citizenship
Meritorious
We consider it an advantage if you have competence/experience in any of the following skills and technologies, but you do not need to have expertise in all, as you will have the opportunity to learn on-site with us.
- Experience in development in SQL and/or Python
- Experience in version control and GitOps
- Geographical analysis and transformation of data
- Data modeling for analysis
- Container-based environments
Personal Qualities
Personal qualities are often as important as technical competence for a group's development and dynamics. In the role of data engineer, you will come into contact with many people and groups within the authority, so it is of great importance that you are communicative and proactive. Additionally, you should have a good collaborative ability, be responsible, and meticulous with the ability to see the bigger picture.
Furthermore, we see you as someone with a broad technical interest, especially regarding data issues, who is engaged and driven, where we value your desire to develop, learn new things, and share your expertise.
We will place great emphasis on your personal suitability and your personal qualities.
